WASHINGTON, D.C.—Leading IT strategy and consulting firm MainSpring, Inc., announced a change in leadership Monday, naming Tom Keller president and chief operating officer. Keller previously served as vice president and primarily focused on MainSpring’s government consulting practice and commercial technical support center. Former President Brenda Sneed will remain with MainSpring and serve as the firm’s chief financial officer.

“With growth comes change,” said MainSpring CEO Marshall Micheals. “The fact that we’ve grown by 50 percent since 2014 is a testament we’re making an impact on our clients because when they grow, we grow.” Earlier this year MainSpring completed a merger, effectively blending what used to be seen as three disparate companies into a unified IT strategy and consulting firm. Under Keller’s direction, the firm is better positioned to offer clients expertise in a variety of areas.

“Using our experiences and best practices from the DoD and commercially to help clients in need is a powerful approach that we’re committed to delivering,” Keller said. “It’s this concept of next generation consulting that will move missions forward and create legacies along the way.” Earlier this year, Keller led the pursuit of a five-year multi-million dollar contract renewal with L-3 Communications supporting the Army’s Medical Communications for Combat Casualty Care (MC4) mission. A client Keller supported in 2003.

“Twelve years ago we asked Tom to provide system administration support for the Army’s MC4 program on Fort Detrick,” Micheals said. “Now he’s the president of our firm. His story is symbolic of what we promise employees and clients—an opportunity to build a legacy. Tom started with the firm wanting to pursue a new career and used the opportunity to improve the lives of others around him. He’s not only grown a stronger network for our firm, but built a beautiful family and has made a serious impact on our partners’ missions.”

Keller joined MainSpring in 1999 as a client liaison in the cabling department, then created and developed the first iteration of the managed services offering before joining the consulting ranks. As an executive with MainSpring, he’s led the firm’s award of two additional Department of Defense contracts and expansion to seven states across the U.S.
